Kid Receiving Dental Treatment

PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY

At PurEndo

we specialize in caring for children who have been referred to us by their general dentist. This often occurs when children are very young, require specific treatments, or when their dentist requires specialized support. Whether it is a quick response to an emergency such as a fall or a gentler approach for a child who is afraid of the dentist, we tailor our care to the unique needs of each child, always in close consultation with you, the parent.

We provide comprehensive dental care for children ages 0-16. Our experienced pediatric dentists ensure that your child receives the best care. We strive to make each visit as pleasant and stress-free as possible for your child. We believe that a positive dental experience is crucial to developing a lifelong healthy attitude toward dental care. Our team uses a variety of techniques to help your child feel comfortable and at ease, including jokes, distractions, and most importantly, patience and lots of attention.

Our goal is to effectively address the reason for the referral, whether it is dental anxiety or another issue, and to prevent this problem from recurring. Once we have performed the necessary treatment, we will refer you back to your regular dentist. Should problems arise again, your dentist can easily refer you to us again.

Trust PurEndo for gentle, expert care that keeps your child's smile healthy and bright.

The preparation

Preparing your child for a dental visit can make the experience smoother and less stressful. Explain what will happen in simple, honest terms, and focus on making your child feel safe and comfortable. Choose the right time to tell your child about the visit, depending on how they handle new situations; some children need more time, while others do better with just a little warning. If they ask questions, answer calmly and honestly, and if you don’t know something, suggest asking the dentist together. Avoid promising gifts beforehand, as this can increase anxiety; instead, consider giving a reward afterward to celebrate their bravery. Trust that our pediatric dentist will take good care of your child and put them at ease during their visit.

The first visit

When your child first visits our pediatric dentist, we take the time to understand their dental history and previous experiences with doctors. This helps us get to know your child and plan the best approach for their care.

The pediatric dentist will assess your child's teeth and behavior and then propose a treatment plan. If necessary, we will also discuss this plan with your health insurer.

We understand that you may have questions or specific expectations about your treatment. Please feel free to discuss these with us—we want you to be completely comfortable with the care recommended. If you have any questions later, you can always call us or reschedule.

The sequel

What happens next? What happens next depends on the treatment. Usually, your child's first separate treatment is spent getting used to the new situation.

Dental care for children is based on trust. A child needs to know what is expected of him and what he can expect from the dentist. This clear structure provides support and helps the child learn to deal with dental care. During an adjustment appointment, the teeth are polished and, if necessary, photos are taken. The dentist then decides what the next steps are and this is always explained to your child.

FAQs

  • Why was I referred to the specialist?
General dentists can perform root canal treatment themselves, but in certain circumstances your regular dentist may not feel confident enough to perform the treatment successfully. This may be because the first treatment was unsuccessful and needs to be performed again. Often teeth have complex curved or narrow roots that are very difficult to treat without specialized equipment. Referring a patient in this situation is good practice and shows that a practitioner wants to achieve the best for their patient. Research suggests that specialists can achieve the highest success rates because they have the training, equipment and expertise to tackle difficult cases more effectively.
  • What causes inflamed dental tissue?
Tooth decay or a leaking filling are the main causes of inflammation of the dental tissue. Bacteria are usually the cause of the inflammation. Do your teeth feel sensitive when drinking cold or hot drinks? That could be the first signal. Sometimes the inflammation causes no complaints, but severe pain can also occur. Your dentist must remove the inflamed tooth tissue, otherwise it will die. If the dental tissue is not removed, the inflammation can spread to your jawbone. This can cause jaw bone around the tooth to be lost. Eventually, so much jaw bone can disappear that the teeth loosen or become painful when chewing. Your tooth may therefore feel too high.
  • Is the bill reimbursed by health insurance?
Root canal treatments are not covered by basic insurance for adults (from 18 years of age) and are not reimbursed. If you have taken out additional insurance for dental costs, you can ask your health insurer whether a root canal treatment is covered by the reimbursements. It may be that part of the treatment (ie a number of procedure codes) is not reimbursed by your insurance. Almost all health insurers reimburse the costs of treatment by the dental hygienist in whole or in part if you have additional dental insurance. For all children up to the age of 18, treatments are fully reimbursed from basic insurance. We recommend that you contact your health insurer to inquire whether you are eligible for any reimbursement.
  • Can I request a deferment of payment?
We work together with Infomedics, which makes it possible to postpone payment. You can postpone the payment date by a maximum of 4 weeks . You can easily arrange this yourself by contacting the Infomedics service line or via their website at infomedics.nl
  • How can I request a payment arrangement?
We work together with Infomedics, which makes it possible to request a payment arrangement. If you cannot pay your bill in one go, you can request a payment plan from them. This is possible for bills from €30 . For bills under €100 you can make an arrangement for a maximum of 3 installments. For bills from €100 you can make an arrangement for a maximum of 5 installments. For more information, please contact Infomedics or visit their website at www.infomedics.nl
